The revision of the Directive is an historic opportunity for the EU to make a real difference to animal protection and in the process. The ECEAE is disappointed with the lack of ambition of the Commission in its proposals but hopes that the revision reflects the clearly-expressed views of EU citizens. Michelle Thew, Chief Executive of the ECEAE said “We are delighted that Neil Parish has been given this role. He has a strong record in animal protection issues and the ECEAE looks forward to working closely with him to ensure our concerns are addressed.” ENDS Notes to Editors [1] Statistic taken from 2006 consultation by European Commission http://ec.europa.eu/environment/chemicals/lab_animals/questionnaire1.htm The European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE) is Europe's leading alliance peacefully campaigning on behalf of laboratory animals.
